Burkholder Team Culture and Community

At Burkholder, we are landscapers that care. Of course, we are passionate about our clients and their dream projects. We work hard to make those special projects turn into more than the client even hopes for.

We also care about our team and we think Burkholder is a pretty special place to work.

Our crews are made up of a diverse group of talented masons, designers, irrigation and landscape lighting installation and service specialists, hardscapers, carpenters, horticulturists, and turf and plant health care specialists. Our team is trained to pay attention to every detail from where and how to park a truck safely while working at your home, to keeping a job site (and our team members) clean and safe throughout the entire project.

What Our Team Members Say

Our team appreciates the Burkholder philosophy and way of working together. One of our project managers recently told us how he appreciates the atmosphere at Burkholder. He said, “We are a good solid team. We have fun, and everyone looks out for one another. And the thing I like best is that, no matter what the issue is, there is someone in house that can and will help you out.”

Another team member mentioned that his favorite aspect of being part of the Burkholder team is the relationships he has forged with his co-workers. “There are so many moving parts in the Burkholder machine, so communication and a good understanding of the different processes allow us to work together well. Sometimes we have to move on the fly and switch our plans at a moment’s notice. It helps that we have a solid team of people that help each other out.”

Training

Training is ongoing at Burkholder. Some of our staff has been university trained in subjects such as turf grass science, and some of our staff has essentially been trained on the job with our team.

Wherever they start though, our team members continue to learn and grow, staying curent with best practices in lawn care, landscape design, plant health care, and other relevant subject areas.

Our teams take part in training meetings at our facility, and we also work with other landscape specialists to expand our knowledge of the field. Each year, members of our team attend conferences and training sessions to learn what‘s new in the landscaping and plant health care industry.

Community Involvement

Burkholder Brothers Landscape is very involved with the Main Line community. Burkholder owner Mark Burkholder has said, “We are a community business, and we love to get involved in community events.”

Levante Triple Threat Relay

In this spirit, we have sponsored and participated in local races, such as the Levante Triple Threat Relay and 5K.

Chester County Food Bank

Burkholder has also partnered with local charitable organizations like the Chester County Food Bank to provide non-perishable food items to local residents in need.

Beautification Committee

We have also collaborated with the Penn Wood Beautification Committee to do things like design and build a legacy garden for Penn Wood Elementary School. Barry Burkholder, whose kids attended school at Penn Wood, has noted “It’s a great school. I feel it’s really important to give back. It feels great to be part of a legacy – something that all the students will be able to enjoy for years to come.”

Winter Holidays at Burkholder

Beginning in November, Burkholder Landscape begins to transform into a winter wonderland. The Burkholder Holiday Market has been a popular event bringing the community together since 2017. The entire team of landscape experts joins in to create wreaths, wrangle fresh cut trees onto car tops and contribute to a fun holiday spirit among attendees who want to see Santa and his reindeer or have hot chocolate around a bonfire.

Burkholder also helps local businesses by inviting them to be featured at the Market. Over the years we have welcomed face painters, food trucks and others to be part of the fun.

We Want You

Join our team! At Burkholder, we have a professional and structured environment that allows team members to grow and excel in what they do. We offer competitive pay, 401k, health insurance, paid vacations, training, new and well-maintained trucks, and equipment and an overall fun work environment.
